Who is Ed
1998, I heard from my physician my intestines were chronically inflamed, i.e. Crohn's Disease. After two years of swallowing heavy medication, I decided to search for alternatives. After having studied many articles, studies and newsgroups for hundreds of hours, I decided to give the alternative treatments a try.
I am very glad to inform you, that currently, September 2001, I haven't touched any medication for a year and all my symptoms have disappeared.

Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis

Bacteria-Crohn | Read more about it... | Scientifical Proof (NEW) | Forum () | Links
This type of Crohn's is caused by a vicious cycle. Digestive enzymes in the intestines are being destroyed by acids produced by bacteria.
Treatment: Special diet (SCDiet). Up to 80% of the Crohn's patients show incredible progress within three months.

Here, the damage mechanism is on a chemical level. Iron catalyzes a specific reaction, which produces free radicals. The free radicals destroy the intestines.
Treatment: Topical application of DMSO. A small percentage of the Ulcerative Colitis patients recover very fast.

This is a type of Crohn's where a defect causes the acid stumach acid to enter the intestines, without first being flushed by a bicarbonate flush.
Treatment: Adding pig duodenum powder to the diet. Crohn patients which also suffer from autism, recover within a couple of days.

LeakyGut-Crohn
The intestines are not sealed off perfectly, so foreign undigested proteins can enter the body and invoke a severe allergic reaction.
Treatment: Often heavy metals in the blood cause this (check your holes in your teeth). Chelation therapy will clean the blood. Hydrolyzing your food will break the proteins into small non-allergenic pieces. Melatonin and Remicade both inhibit TNF-Alpha production and can stop the allergic reaction which otherwise would result in a chronic inflammation. A leaky gut can also result from the acids produced by the bacteria (as in Bacteria Crohn).. Read more

Which type Crohn / Ulcerative Colitis do I have ?
I've made a list of symptoms, which you can use to easily determine which type of inflammation is active in your intestines.

The information on this site is based on the research by David Gregg. I've summarized his findings on this site and backed them up by medical research articles. Please also read David Gregg's Website, which is updated frequently.
I've also added many more links to comparable treatments. I obtained most information about the SCDiet by reading Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschal and by reading the articles on www.scdiet.org. The information on the Paleolithic Diet is from Seth's Healing Crow Site. The information on Hypoglycemia was found on Survive Diabetes (click on contents). Also the Healing Crow Community helped me a lot. I was able to discuss things with Elaine Gottschall (Breaking the Vicious Cycle), Seth (Healing Crow) and many others on this discussion forum.

Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia | | Glucose Tolerance Charts | Forum () | Links
Hypoglycemia is the body's inability to properly handle the large amounts of sugar that's daily consumed. It's caused by an overload of sugar, starches, alcohol, cafeine, tobacco and stress.
When a hypoglycemic person eats foods which contain a high percentage (10% or higher) of carbohydrates, his/her pancreas keeps secreting large amounts of insulin, because the body cells react too slow to the insulin (and thus the sugar level doesn't drop). Over time (two or more hours after eating), the insulin has opened the cell walls, so they can absorb the sugar. Hoewever, because way too much insulin is in the blood, the cells will keep absorbing the sugars. As a result, the blood sugar level plummets below the level necessary to maintain well-being.
Symptoms: Cravings, obesity, mood swings, depressions, night sweats, and more. Read more about it
Treatment: A low-carbohydrate diet in combination with supplementation of Chromium-Picolinate (200ug), L-glutamine and multivitamins.
