Another person in the Healing Crow Community is showing the same symptoms as I used to.. I'm posting a copy of my reply to his message here, so I can categorize it later and write an article about it..

His original message:
before scd, i was mainly eating meats and veggies, lots of almonds, natural
peanut better (with just peanuts and salt) and some grains such as buckwheat,
rice, aramath, wheat. now that i'm on scd though, i've been losing foods!!
can no longer tolerate almonds or any nuts. i lost tomatoes and now seem to
be reacting to fried foods (meat fried in a pan, nothing added).

i react NOT with dirreha or blood or mucus but with constipation, headaches,
eye flares and EXTREAME fatigue and hypoglyceim (drop in blood sugur
resulting in irritablitly, yawning constantly, needed to eat right away,
etc.) and more...i'll spare you. how could this happen from fried meat, a low
carb food!? honestly, it's scary to see my diet dwiddeling as i don't have
much to work with now. (no dairy either). seems like i could tolerate more
foods being OFF scd of course i'm not going to quit!!! i'm in this for the
long run, like you guys. just need some help along the way. : ) thank you
all.

summary:
* why am i loosing foods on scd?
* why am i reacting now to fried meats?

I posted the following:
The problem in this case is that he still eats too many carbohydrates.
When he eats those, his blood sugar levels start to rise.
Because he's insulin resistant, his cells can't consume the glucose and his blood sugar levels stay very high. Over time the cells start to react to the insulin and all of a sudden
the blood sugar levels plumet to levels below wellbeing: Hypoglycemia..

Normally, when you keep on eating carbohydrates throughout the day, say every two hours, your blood sugar levels will stay high throughout the day.
No nasty hypoglycemia symptoms.. Until night comes and you fall asleep.. During sleep you can't eat more carbohydrates and nocturnal hypoglycemia is the result..
Also be wary of the hyperglycemia symptoms: The glucose binds to proteins and destroys them in the process. This will eventually destroy your heart and other nerves and blood
vessels in your body.. This also causes the eye problems..

The *only* way to overcome these symptoms is by eliminating almost all carbohydrates from the diet. Because even small amounts, like in a tomato will cause hyperglycemia and
thus, over time hypoglycemia. You will think it's because of the steak (with 0 carbs in it), but instead it's because of the tomatoes (or any other carb-food) you ate a couple of
hours ago.. Tomato is a fruit by the way..
It's a vicious cycle.. The only way to break it is by eating a max of 30 grams of carbohydrates daily... I've experimented a lot, but I have to conclude it's the truth..

I recognize alot in his story:
With me it went like this: I was also eating almonds, meats, veggies and some carbohydrates.
All of a sudden I couldn't tolerate onions and garlic anymore. Soon after that I couldn't even tolerate almonds anymore.
When I ate some I would get extremely tired, as in I really needed a place to lie down.
I now know it's not because of the sugars in almonds (almost none), but it's because of the high Calcium levels in it..

In short, this is what happens:

High blood sugar levels cause Calcium influx, which is the antagonist of Magnesium.
Magnesium is driven out of the cells. As Magnesium levels get depleted, the cells turn insulin resistant.
High blood sugar levels can prolong for long periods of time because of the insulin resistance..
So there is even more Calcium influx, which results in more insulin resistance, which results in more high blood sugars, which results in....... etc, etc..
Vicious Cycle

Gradually you will feel worse and worse and more allergies will start to show and you will be able to tolerate less and less foods...

There is only one way to break this cycle:

* Eat no more than 30 grams of carbs a day
* Use a good Magnesium supplement (Magnesium-glycinate from Carlson Labs)
* Use a Boron supplement (not sure yet, because I am only using it for 5 days, but I think it's working)

Boron will balance the Calcium and Magnesium levels by reducing the excretion of both and by lowering serum Calcium levels.
Because Ca is the antagonist of Mg, this will result in increased serum Mg levels and over time increased intracellular Mg levels..
This will repair the insulin resistance (I hope.. It seems very logical, but I will have to experience it first)..
As the intracellular Mg levels of the mastcells start to increase too, the allergies start to disappear too. Mastcells explode too quickly when their intracellular Mg levels are too low.
By exploding they release histamines which cause allergy symptoms..

I don't think there any feasible alternatives right now..

Let me know what you think of it..

Good luck,

Another article I posted some time ago, which describes the vicious cycles:

Some info on the vicious cycles:
www.survivediabetes.com/hypt2.htm In the study which
established this, the caries rate was reduced when the sugar diet was
supplemented with the minerals calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. It's long been known that sugar causes these nutrients to be lost in the urine, but the calcium level in the blood hardly varies. However, recent nuclear magnetic resonance imaging studies show that the blood sugar level determines calcium and magnesium levels inside the cell.
The studies found that the higher the blood sugar, the more calcium
and the less magnesium there is within living cells (Barbagallo 1994).

This has astonishing implications. A typical American breakfast
supplies an enormous amount sugar and starches which are very quickly
converted to blood sugar (as much or more as in the Glucose Tolerance
Test), which drives the blood sugar so high as to increase calcium
within the cells. Many Americans eat this much sugar at two or even
three meals per day.

The resulting high calcium level in the insulin-producing cells of the
pancreas makes them over-react and release too much insulin (Resnick
1993), which causes the blood sugar overshoot known as hypoglycemia.
Ordinarily, the glucagon-producing cells of the pancreas would kick
in, making glucagon to tell the liver to get some of the blood sugar
stored as glycogen, but high insulin levels inhibit glucagon
production. So the blood sugar continues to fall until the body
declares an emergency and calls for adrenalin to raise it. Voilą, we
have adrenalin-caused hypoglycemic symptoms of nervousness,
irritability and the like.
END QUOTE

Summary:

Vicious Cycle 1
Version a
----------------------------------------------------------
1. Diet contains too many sugars
2. High insulin levels all the time
2. Intracellular Ca rises, Mg decreases because of Insulin
---} All cells get insulin-resistant because of high Ca
---} Pancreas cells overreact because of high Ca
4. Even higher Insulin levels ---} Back to #3

Vicious Cycle 1
Version b
----------------------------------------------------------
1. Diet contains too much Ca and is deficient in Mg
(Or: Diet contains too many sugars, brocolli, spinach or fats)
2. Intracellular Ca rises, Mg decreases
---} All cells get insulin-resistant because of high Ca
---} Pancreas cells overreact because of high Ca
3. Higher and higher insulin levels
4. Insulin changes intracellular Ca/Mg even further --} Back to #2

Vicious Cycle 2
----------------------------------------------------------
1. Low Mg causes low production of Mg-absorbing cells
2. Even less Mg is absorbed through the intestines --} Back to #1
(This looks like the B12 vicious cycle: B12 is needed by the B12-
absorbing cells in the intestines.. Solution: Transdermal B12 by using
DMSO)

Implications
----------------------------------------------------------
* Hypoglycemia: Insulin levels stay high, bloodsugar plumets, high insulin inhibits glucagon production -} Hypoglycemia -} Adrenalin -} Irritation, stress, nervousness --} Even less Mg because hypoglycemia depletes Mg even further
* Allergy: Mast cells with low-Mg, high-Ca burst very easily and
spread histamines too frequently.
* Depression: The brain can't function properly without Mg
* Hypertension: High Calcium makes the cells of blood vessel walls constrict more readily, causing higher blood pressure.
* Contractions of muscles/spasms: Calcium is needed for contractions, while Mg is needed for releasing.
* Heart arhithmia
* Insomnia, because Mg is needed for REM-sleep

Solution:
One should break the vicious cycles:
* Zero/Low-carb diet
* Supplementation of Magnesium
* If neccessary, IV- or transdermal Magnesium (ViciousCycle 2)
* Very strict zero/low carbohydrate diet, which prevents the pancreas from producing any insulin at all. entering the vicious cycle.. Remember: The pancreas overshoots and the cells are insulin-resistant. More insulin will make them even more insulin-resistant.

* Supplementation of the right Magnesium, which also increases _intracellular Magnesium_.

* DMSO can be used to put Mg in the blood (?), without a needle.. Read the article about the B12-vicious cycle here: www.krysalis.net/b12.htm

After some struggles, I've finally developed a Magnesium supplementation protocol:

The DON'TS
  • Never take it in the morning before breakfast

  • Never take it more than four hours after your last meal

    The DO'S

  • Take one tablet after each meal

  • Take one two hours after each meal

Assuming you have three meals per day, you can safely take 6 tablets per day, which is 1,200mg, which should be sufficient for most hypomagnesemia cases. If you need more you can:

  • Take one 1.5 hours and one 3 hours after each meal
In total you will take 9 tablets, which equals 1,800mg.

The DON'T's were very nasty to experience.. Please don't try it yourself, because you'll be on the toilet within 15 minutes, and then again, and again, and again......

Yesterday, I had a superday. I was able to tolerate hunger again without feeling bad. That's the feeling I pursue..
I think it will all get better now I've finally found the right way to supplement..

I'm also adding 4mg Boron each day. Studies show that Calcium excretion drops by 44% and Mg excretion drops by 33% (through urine)..

I discovered that Boron is mostly bound to high-carb foods, which I don't eat anymore. So a Boron deficiency is very probable..

I will let you know how it works out..

Please take a look at www.scdiet.nl . It's getting a lot better.. Especially look at the recipes.. Warning: Site is in Dutch..

Hi,

I bought a set of pH-test strips at the pharmacy.

Yesterday afternoon I got the following figures:

Saliva: 8.0

Urine : 7.5

Both alkalic...

The test should be performed in the morning before breakfast.

New values this morning:

Saliva: 7.0

Urine : 5.0

Saliva is perfect, the same acidity as water.

Urine is very acid I think.. What might this mean ?

According to webMD the normal range is 4.6 to 8.0 for urine pH, so it

should be OK..

 9

Friday, November 30 2001
I've checked the acidity of my salivas and my urine. It's 8.0 and 7.5 respectively.

That means my blood is slightly alkalic.. The normal range is 6.0 - 6.8...

More to come.. I don't know what this means yet.. I'll do another test next morning before breakfast.

I am now using the Carlson Mg-glycinate and this one is absorbed super !
I am imporving again instantaneously !

STOP--STOP

The Solgar Mg-glycinate (Mg=Magnesium) aggrevated the situation, because it also contains Calcium..
The days before that I had used Vital Cell Life Mg-taurate, which worked just fine..
I'm now also trying pure 200 mg Mg-glycinate tablets from Carlson Labs.. I think it's ok..

I will publish a report on all the Mg-supplements I have tried.. I've tried over 6 types and only one has been proven to work correctly and not causing diarhea...

More to come..

The Mg-Glycinate is working like a miracle:

I started using the Mg-glycinate wednesday and I think it *IS* the
missing link. I feel very, very energetic, I sleep better, I feel
even more positive. No single flaw, brain fogs or other problems
throughout the day..

And I haven't even been taking very large doses.. I can handle up to
500mg a day.. Above that dosage, my stool gets too loose. I think
this might get better over time, because the Mg-absorbing cells must
be improving too..

The thing that has most dramatically changed is my tolerance of
*hunger*.. I used to start to feel bad and depressed, four hours
after I had my last meal. Now, when I start to feel hungry, my
stomach tells me that, but *that's it*. No other symptoms.. If I
decide to eat an hour later, that's no problem at all.

Perhaps it's a bit too early to start chearing. It's been only four
days now, but I really think it has made a huge difference.. Let's
hope it lasts..

I'm also trying the Zinc-picolinate for my acne that just won't go
away.. I hope it helps.. I'll let you know..

Revolutionary developments...
The problems with the asparagus have something to do with the liver unable to detox the sulphur in the asparagus.
In the HealingCrow Newsgroup I asked people about this and after a nice brainstormsession this is the result:
I think I have an intracellular Magnesium Deficiency. This could explain all the remaining symptoms I have...
When Intracellular magnesium is low and calcium is high, a couple of things happen:
* The pancreatic cells overshoot insulin.
* The body cells turn insulin resistant
* The mast cells explode too easily causing histamines to spread
* Low Magnesium causes low production of Magnesium absorbing cells.. Vicious cycle..
* Magnesium is needed by the liver to detox chemical substances
* The brain needs Magnesium

So, the low-intracellular magnesium causes:
* Low absorbtion of Magnesium, so we stay in a vicious cycle
* Hypoglycemia
* Sensitivities and allergies
* Depression (untreatable)
* Insomnia (Mg is needed for sleep)

After some time I discovered that Magnecium-glycinate is the right type of Magnesium (many types exist). This is the only type that is absorbed very well and ends up inside the cells (intracellular).

I will receive the supplements tomorrow..
I already started a Magnesium-Taurate supplement, which I know isn't absorbed as well as glycinate.. But I'm glad to tell you that every time I take one, I feel a lot better an hour after that..

Once again, there is a big light in the of the tunnel    .. I was starting to get a bit depressed by the idea that I was growing incompatible with the modern world (food-allergies, chemical sensitivities)...

More to come !

Excema and skin rashes explained: My mother has been washing some of my laundry using a new detergent. I've found a hypo-allergene laundry detergent, which I will use in the future. The skin rashes are disappearing already !

I ate asparagus and as a result I had a very bad night's sleep. I woke up, sweating a lot.. That morning, I didn't have any hypoglycemia symptoms, so it wasn't hypoglycemia... The next night, I again sweated some and the next night it was gone.. I think my kidneys had a problem trying to discard some of the ingredients of the asparagus. My urine stank very bad too..

My hypoglycemia is very well under control right now.. I can determine how stable my blood sugars are, by looking at the amount of durt in my eyes when I wake up.. Last couple of days, there was no durt whatsoever, meaning my blood sugars are very stable.

Once again, I see that it takes more than a week to recover from a mistake in the diet, which caused hypoglycemia..

Doing fine.. Alas, a new problem is introduced: Excema and skin rashes on my back, my neck and my chest. I think it's because of a detergent that I use for the laundry. I stopped using the laundry softener and it seemed to disappear.. That was two months ago..
A week ago, it returned after wearing a new-bought woolen sweater. It first begins with red spots, next they turn brownish and flat and next they start to itch like hell. This takes about two, three weeks.. Some of the spots turn into acne. Then it takes some more time to completely disappear.. I hope they won't leave pigment changes.
Once again I checked the internet: A woolen sweater contains 10 times more allergens (like dust mite or cat dander) than a cotton T-shirt.
What I will do is this:
I will start using a hypo-allergenic detergent for the laundry.
No more laundry-softener at all, because they are all very allergenic.
No more woolen sweaters. Instead I will use more cotton sweaters.

As this skin rash doesn't really effect my general feeling, I will rate my condition as a nine.

I'm sleeping OK again. My bloodsugar level is still not completely stable.. This shows once again that one mistake in the diet has drastic results for a large periode: more than a week.

I've received the coconut oil, that I ordered last week.. It tastes very good. It melts on your tongue and it doesn't taste like fat at all. It tastes more like a really nice flavor coconut-ice.

I bake in olive oil now and when I'm almost done I add a bit of coconut oil and let it melt. This adds a really nice taste to the foods. The coconut oil is very healthy (even though it's saturated fats). It contains lauric acid, which encapsulates viruses to render them ineffective.

Sunday, September 23 2001
Alas, the glutamine has caused a couple of bad days.. My sleep was particularly troubled. The same symptoms as when I would eat too many carbohydrates: Waking up many times during sleep and waking up not feeling rested. Much less energy throughout the day.
After three/four bad days, my health is finally restored today.. Last night my sleep was ok again.

So, in the end I was right about the glutamine:
MSM, glutamine and other liver-metabolised substances disturb my blood sugar levels in such a way that it eventually results in a hypo.
I think it has something to do with the low-carbohydrate diet I'm on (max 30 grams a day).. That diet is not compatible with glutamine, which posesses properties like decreasing insulin resistance. Perhaps I should eat more carbs when using glutamine.

This evening I baked a pizza using walnut flower. It tastes really good.. I used the ''John's Pizza'' recipe from www.scdrecipe.com (replacing the almond flour by walnut flour ofcourse).. I also let my father and a friend try it and they both liked it..

 10

Monday, September 17 2001
As I suspected, the L-Glutamine doesn't affect the hypoglycemia.. I hope it well help heal my intestines further, so that proteins can't pass the intestinal barrier. These proteins are detected as viruses by the imune system.. That's because viruses consist of proteins.

The walnuts are very nice, they cause no problems at all. My condition is once again improving.. It takes about a week to regain my 10-rating after a small hypo. In the future I will stick to the diet more fanatic.

I will redesign the site in the near future, so that it will reflect all my findings (A LOT) side by side. These findings include all facts that I stumbled upon after reading the revolutionary books, as shown on the books-section of the site.

The new information will include information (both in Dutch and English) on intestinal diseases, sugar addiction, smoking, lifestyle, cancer, hart disease, overweight, diabetes, hypoglycemia, depression and many more.. All these subjects happen to be more related than one can imagine.. I hope I will succeed in constructing a sensible and nice to read website/article.

I will also add more links and introductions to the articles on David Gregg's website ( www.krysalis.net/crohn.htm ). David Gregg really shows he is very knowledgable and experienced. His recent findings explain the mechanisms behind cancer, chronic fatigue, fibromialgia, crohn's and schizophrenia. Besides that he also presents a way to treat (proven very successfully many times) these diseases.

More to come really soon..

Sunday, September 16 2001
Last week, I felt really great.. If possible, I would have given my condition/health an 11 rating !
I now know why I felt so good: I kept to the diet very strictly and I also added the Omega3 supplement to the diet. Please note that the Omega3 fish oil supplements are maybe not tolerated when the intestines are not healed yet.. So don't use it when you've just started the SCDiet. After a while, you can try one capsule to see it's tolerated.

Monday and Tuesday were days full of activity and I wasn't able to eat a proper lunch, so I ate a couple of handsfull of almonds. That ruined my condition. The next four/five days I was feeling a lot worse and more tired. I also slept a lot worse, waking up many times a night and also sweating more.
Almonds are ok, but they do contain 20% carbs. 4% of the almond is in fact sucrose, a disaccharide.
After that incident I decided to eat no more than one handful of almonds a day and I also decided to switch to walnuts. Walnuts contain more good fats, of which a lot Omega3's and also less carbohydrates.

The acne is still not gone and it even got worse when I ate 200 grams of roastbeef wednesday. So: Beef is completely off limits now.

I started using the L-glutamine again today. I think the glutamine didn't effect my hypoglycemia. I used to think that, because at that time I was also using MSM, which I've found to be incompatible with my hypoglycemia and low-carb diet. I think the L-glutamine might help decrease the permeability of my intestines. This increased permeability is - I think - the cause of the acne. Large proteins can enter the blood and cause immune reactions which result in acne.

I heard the bad news last Tuesday about the two Boeings that hit the twintowers, the third hitting the Pentagon and the fourth in the forest. In The Netherlands we're all very shocked and we'll support the Americans in the fight against this terrorism.

 10

Friday, September 07 2001
I've received the Omega 3 fatty acids from Solgar last wednesday. I think I'm feeling a bit more altert and awake. My mood is also better, more positive.. The acne has not shown any difference yet, but time will tell.

I've once again called the Dutch Crohn/Colitis Association. This time I was told that the editors are reviewing the SCDiet and the article I wrote. It might just be published in the December issue of the magazine. I certainly hope so.. I think it would be the first Crohn/Colitis Association in the entire world that acknowledges the SCDiet !

My overall health is still very good. A 10 !

I got hungry 7.5 hours after my breakfast with 100 ml olive oil
The experiment is over and it proofs that it works. Eating fat stops you from getting hungry. The 1100 kilocalories were enough for 7.5 hours in my case. Very interesting.
Somebody on the HealingCrow newsgroup told me that I should watch the Omega6:Omega3 ratio. Olive oil contaiins only traces of Omega3 and lots of Omega6. So I should also eat more fish oils and walnuts, because those are rich in Omega3.
After studying the Omega3's I decided to order a bottle of Solgar Omega 3 700mg. It might help clearing up the acne, which although reduced is still there on my jawline. Omega3 fatty acids are essential and most people eat way too less of it. It has anti-inflammatory properties and it has been shown to help with many chronic inflammatory diseases (also Colitis) and it's also beneficial for the skin.

I also discovered that the paleolithic men used to eat primarily the fatty parts of animals. They would start with the brains, the eyeballs and the belly fat. If there was enough they would eventually throw away all lean muscles (like the Steaks and the chicken filets !). Many carnivores still eat this way. They instinctively know that the fat contains more than twice the energy than protein or carbs and it's also got some very inportant health benefits.. I also checked hte brain contents (USDA) and I saw it contains large amounts of polyunsatured fats of which a lot of Omega3 !

This proofs another point: Omega3 is essential for the brains.

Sunday, my brother ate two ''Broodjes Gezond'' as we call it in the Netherlands. Translated it means: Healthy Sandwiches, however it's not very healthy, while most people think so.. What is it: A white bread with cheese, cucumber (the only healthy part) and ham. The white bread turned out to be especially unhealthy for my brother. He had a terrible night's sleep. He had several nightmaires and almost didn't sleep at all. That was the last time he would eat a ''Broodje Gezond'', he told me..
Also my fater, who's on a medium-low-carb diet, ate some more cookies and other carbs. He noticed it immediately. It turned out to cause him to stay on the toilet for much longer than normal.

At lunchtime I bought a fresh raw tuna steak. I ate one half of it raw.. It doesn't have a very distinct taste. The other half I baked in olive oil and I added some salt.. It turns from red to white (like chicken) and it tastes really nice.. I will eat that more often..
Alas, tuna doesn't contain that much omega3 fatty acids, so I also bought two mackerel filets (steamed) that do contain large amounts of the right omega3 fatty acids (EPA).. I will eat that as diner..

I also made another discovery.. The olive oil makes me sleep a lot better. It totally suppresses the hypoglycemia. So, don't take a glass of whisky before going to sleep, but take a small glass of olive oil !

More to come..

My experience with the Dutch Crohn-Colitis Assocation:

I posted a mesage on the newsgroup of their website: www.crohn-colitis.nl.
I wrote a very clear article about the SCDiet using normal words, so that everybody could understand it.
I also wrote in that message that I had called the association more than a week ago to ask them what they think of the diet and if they could possibly print an article in their paper magazine.
I also wrote I assumed the Dutch Crohn-Colitis Association was not related to any pharmaceutical or food-industry company.

This is what happened: The moderator boldly removed the message !
He writes in a reply that he did this because I supposedly insulted the association. He also misquotes my words..
He says I wrote that I called the association to FORCE them to publish the information and that I ASSUMED the association was CORRUPT..
What's more: He removed the entire message, while he should have removed only one sentence..

I've replied to his message by saying that he completely misunderstands me. I told him I was using diplomacy to achieve my goal: To get an article on the SCDiet in the magazine.
I also asked him to reprint the article in the list. The hostility he is insinuating is completely incorrect. To prove his objectivity and non-dependence of the industries, he should repost the article I wrote.
He should also write an article in which he states what companies DO sponsor the association..
That seems like fair to me.

To be continued..

Back to the daily reports
Today, I decided to try the following:
I ate my normal meal this morning (Broccoli+Chicken), but this time I added 100 ml (grams) of olive oil.. This meal consists of 1100 kilocalories.. I am wondering how long I can go on without getting hungry.. According ot my statistics it would be about eight hours.. If that works out, it would be very nice.. That means I don't have to worry what to eat when I need to work for long hours !

To be continued

Saturday, September 01 2001
So far, no news, no phone call from the Dutch Crohn's Colitis Association.

I had some sub-optimal days. Now I know why. I've been eating out a couple of times. I did ask the waitress to not add starches or sugars, but she didn't succeed to get the message to the cook I think..
There was some mucus in my stool and I had some up/downs and brain fogs.
Today, it's starting to get ok again..
Next time, I'll talk to the cook myself..

After a conversation with David Gregg, I decided to continue using the Krysalis Sparx. After some days without it I did really notice that I was feeling worse. I ordered a six-pack of Sparx for the special price of $20 per can.

Our dog doesn't look that well recently. I checked his food and saw that it contains 25% protein and only 7% fat.. That leaves about 65% for carbohydrates.. That can't be good at all.. I'll try and find an alternative for the dog..
Really stupid: We're feeding dogs (carnivores) 65 % carbohydrates ! That's pure nonsence !

More to come.. Thanks for reading..

Still doing fine..
I've had some nasty acne on the line of my jaw on my skin. It just wouldn't go away.. I've had it since April 2001 I think. When I was searching on the net for what may cause acne, I saw that the proteins in beef are sometimes the cause.. Then I remembered that in April I discarded the allergy-test results and reintroduced beef in the diet..

I just had to try it: I stopped eating beef completely.. Now, a week later, the acne is disappearing !
This shows once more that many modern diseases and ailments are caused by our foods !
* I stopped the Crohn's with a diet: The SCDiet
* I stopped the hypoglycemia with a revised SCDiet: Less carbs.. 30 grams max
* I stopped the acne by restricting the diet a bit further: No more beef (I don't eat porc at all by the way)

I also stopped using Krysalis Sparx.. One day I used a double amount of the Sparx and in the evening there was some mucus in my stool.. 20 grams of Sparx contains 8 grams of starch.. That's too much for my intestines to handle.. If I would continue to use it, I would stay in a vicious cycle..

Right now, it's day three without the Sparx. I do notice that sometimes I feel a bit weaker. I think the vitamin and mineral supplements in Sparx are a really nice blend.. Alas, it's not compatible with the SCDiet..
I'll ask David if it's possible to create a version without the starch..

Now I am healthy (10-rating) for such a long period, I will put more effort into persuading the Dutch Crohn-Colitis Association (Netherlands) to publish an article on the SCDiet.. I am also medication free for a year now ! Especially since I've recently found medical studies that PROOF that the elemental diet is more effective than prednisolon !
The elemental diet is in fact a more restrictive version of the SCDiet. Instead of only restricting the carbohydrates, the elemental diet also restricts proteins and fats.. Only predigested proteins (in the form of amino acids) and predigested fats (medium-chain fats) are allowed. Within a week 80-90% of the Crohn-patients are virtually symptom free on the elemental diet.. What struck me was that this was known in 1976 and even in the 1930's it was known !
Check the links-section of the Bacteria-Crohn page for the studies..

I've thursday called the Crohn/Colitis and asked them what was their vision on the SCDiet and if they would like to publish an article in their paper magazine.. They were supposed to call me back, alas..
I'll give them another call tomorow..

Somehow, I think that there is a slight chance they will publish the information.. I think it's less controlled by the pharmaceutical industry than the American Crohn-Colitis Association (which won't publish objective information on the SCDiet).

To Be Continued !
